During the meeting the main topics addressed include: a) data availability regarding aerial photography, LIDAR surveys, wave recording and hindcasting simulations and Sea Level Height datasets, b) data handling process of all collected data and metadata and main aspects of the GIS platform, c) the proposed study areas of the project, d) determination of resilience mechanisms and resilience indicators e) possible approaches for modelling the evolution of the system in long and short-term simulations and f) dissemination strategy and activities of EVREST.
The two field-trips provided the participants with the opportunity to get acquainted with the barrier island system, its evolution and environmental and anthropogenic pressures, as well as to observe and discuss specific aspects, like dune growth and vegetation and shoreline changes. During the visit to the Centro Ciência Viva of Tavira the participants explored the permanent and temporary exhibitions, were informed regarding the activities of the Centre and discussed the dissemination of the project to the local community through the development of new and innovative hands-on activities and other dissemination events.
